"The apprentice program is an important asset to me as a contractor for 3 reasons. 1) It gives technicians a path to becoming a journeyman in a specific trade. The goals are defined and the technician knows what needs to be accomplished for him or her to reach the goal. 2) The program gives me as a contractor a career path to offer potential technicians. The technician will see that there is somewhere to go with the company and feel like a winner when the goal is attained. 3) There are specific tasks that need to accomplished and a training schedule can be determined by me as the employer to see that the technician is trained to the standards specified. This helps me to have a very highly trained technician."
